January 15, 2018- Thanks to funding by the Commissioners and Council the George Rogers Clark Land Trust submitted the first application in Indiana for Agricultural conservation easements funding through the USDA.
The requested grant would fund the purchase of a conservation easement on 172- acres owned by Steven Haggard near Ramsey.
May 20, 2018- The Natural Resource Conservation Service announced that the George Rogers Clark Land Trusts grant application was approved. At this time work on completing the Haggard conservation easement is scheduled to begin Mid June 2018.
In December 2015 Congress made permanent a federal tax incentive for conservation easement donations that can help Harrison County residents protect their farms.
